Publications

Audited State publishes across three layers: declarations, explorations, and formalizations.

Together, these form a structured approach to understanding reasoning continuity under accelerating human–AI collaboration.

🔴 Position Releases & Core Essays

This section highlights critical publications that define new risks, mechanisms, or structural responses requiring immediate attention. These works form the current backbone of the research direction.

A foundational question for any system design:

Is your system even legal?
Courts do not judge actions alone — they require intention.
Modern systems produce outcomes without preserving the intention that led to them.
If intention cannot be traced, responsibility cannot be assigned — a principle long established in law.

Why Intention Matters for Judgement

🟡 Essays

Essays explore how these ideas unfold in practice — examining consequences, contexts, and implications across domains.

Recommended sequence (backbone narrative)

A guided path through the backbone narrative, in the intended reading order.

  1. The Collapse of Agency
  2. The End of Monday Morning
  3. The Erosion of Intent
  4. The Reasoning Artifact
  5. The Honest Agent
  6. The Great Accumulation
  7. The Road Ahead
  8. The Continuity of Learning
  9. The Wealth of Understanding
  10. Data as Representation of Truth
  11. The Horizon of Reconstruction Bankruptcy

Interpretation, Drift & Cognitive Continuity Series

A new backbone series exploring how modern systems increasingly preserve operational continuity while losing continuity of understanding. Together these essays establish the emerging infrastructure challenge of distributed AI-mediated cognition: how meaning, interpretation, accountability, and shared understanding can remain coherent under acceleration, ambiguity, and drift.

  1. Data as Representation of Truth Establishes that data is not truth itself, but frozen interpretation requiring continuity of reasoning and governance
  2. Reasoning Drift Examines how interpretive misalignment compounds across systems, creating inherited drift before computation even begins
  3. Coherence of Understanding Explores why civilization increasingly preserves operational systems while losing continuity of shared understanding
  4. Why Stable Understanding Requires Legible Ambiguity Argues that ambiguity is not failure itself — hidden ambiguity is — and that coherent systems require visible uncertainty and revisable interpretation
  5. The Traffic of Reasoning Uses traffic infrastructure as a civilizational analogy for continuity-preserving reasoning systems, coordination structures, and cognitive governance
  6. Make the AI Understand Explores the conditions under which AI systems can understand human intention and context

Together, these essays frame the transition from the Information Superhighway toward the Cognitive Super Highway: a continuity-preserving infrastructure layer for distributed, governable, and agent-agnostic cognition.
